Start Mapping Your Ride into the Future


9th Grade:

Grades start to matter!

Get involved in school and community activities

Know the Smart Core Track

Become familiar with college entry requirements

If you wanting to play a college sport then know the NCAA track


10th Grade:

Take the ASPIRE  or the ACT (

Research majors that you are interested in

Take an aptitude test (ex. ASVAB)

Keep those grades up!

Start getting qualified to take concurrent classes

Your High School Handbook is a great resource...start using it :)

11th Grade

Attend open houses-Many Universities have Junior Preview Days- Just call and ask them !

Take a campus tour

Take the ACT at least twice this year!

Start researching colleges and their academic scholarships

Narrow down your college choice

Attend College Fairs

Meet with your High School Counselor

Job shadow someone in career that interests you

Look into concurrent programs

Know deadlines for admission and scholarships for colleges you are interested in

Take the PSAT/MNSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test)


12th Grade:

Attend Open Houses

Take campus tours

Take the ACT (

Apply for Admission and Scholarships (Everytime you apply at a college submit a transcript request-Colleges will need your transcript, shot records, and test scores-Online request system on this website)

Attend College Fairs

Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

Attend a Financial Aid night at your school

Submit Concurrent transcripts to your college

Complete the YOUniverisal Scholarship Application  (Arkansas Academic Challenge, Governor's Scholarship)

Apply for Housing
