I began teaching Civics, World History, and AP US History in Horatio in 2012 until 2016. In 2016, I changed to Family and Consumer Science where I taught Financial Literacy, Food Safety, FACS, FACSI, Entrepreneurship, and Internship until 2021.
In 2021, I transferred to Nashville High School to teach Family and Consumer Science, Fashion, Interior Design, Food Safety, and Human Relations.
Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked as a Teller/Loan Assistant/Mortgage Assistant/Account Specialist in banking, owned my own bakery, and was an Account Executive for some of Texarkana’s largest radio stations.
My life experiences before teaching have helped me immensely in using different teaching strategies to use in my classroom.
I am married to Dustin and we have 2 daughters (Lexy-15 and Kennedy-21). We also have a granddaughter that was born in July of 2020 and another on the way due in October. Lexy attends Nashville High School and is loving it. Kennedy attends Texas A & M-Texarkana and is currently seeking a degree in teaching. We have a dog named Oscar who is a “baby cow” sized pitbull and cat named Cinnamon.
I have an endless number of hobbies. Travel is my most favorite and we try to do so as much as possible. I also started a business designing and making teacher and school spirit shirts.
