David Schwope

Welcome to Mr. Schwope's Classroom

SPEECH

Parents: It will be my great pleasure to have your child as a student in my classroom this year. Speech is a required class for graduation in Arkansas, and it really does help students become more comfortable speaking in front of others.  Students will give three major speeches in class: a informational speech about a classmate, a demonstration speech showing how to do or make something, and a persuasive speech using Monroe's Motivated Sequence.

COMPOSITION 1 and 2

Parents:  Concurrent credit Composition 1 and 2 is a great opportunity for your child to gain college credits while still in high school.  The students will write in several rhetorical styles and will review grammar and usage.  A final project will be a multi-genre project.

DRAMA

Parents:  Drama provides an opportunity for your child to investigate and explore the Theatre Arts through study and practice.  Students will read plays and write their own shorter creative works.  There will also be a performance section in which students will learn acting and stagecraft techniques.

The following video explains the kind of teacher I strive to be.
